Insurance Companies

Some insurance companies will no longer pay out for chimney fire damage unless the flue has been swept and maintained by a professional chimney sweep who can issue a valid certificate of sweeping, recognised by the insurance companies themselves. Guild sweeps are required to issue these certificates for every chimney cleaned. 

If the fire brigade is called out to a chimney fire and it is proven that the chimney has not been maintained, the local council can bill you for the call out and this has been known to be up to £2000 per fire crew.

Why Should I Get My Chimney Swept?

There are 3 main reasons why you should get your chimney swept:

CCTV Chimney Inspections

CCTV Inspections
We are able to conduct chimney inspections using a special camera. This allows a clear view of the inside of the chimney. We also able to take recordings or photographs of the inspection, and send these on to who ever it may concern. This service can be beneficial if you have had bricks falling down your chimney, if you have a blockage, or if there is concern over the state of the chimney i.e. smoke is leaking into other parts of the property or even into other properties.
